Computer and Internet

Since the inauguration of the 21st century, the Internet and computers have evolved to become one of the most paramount aspects of our society today. And although the World Wide Web and computers are essential to the modern day individual, there is still a significant number of individuals who lack sufficient knowledge and competency into the capabilities these two innovations.

There`s no sense in denying it, but since the first computer was built, the typical feature set of these things is not only astounding but keeps on improving as well. In fact, a close inspection would reveal that computers nowadays feature notable upswings especially in terms of ergonomic design, stellar graphic performance, network speeds and supreme design aesthetics. The main components of a computer typically entail an output display screen, Central Processing Unit, Data Storage and Data Input tools like the mouse and the keyboard.

More so, a basic computer works algorithmically to solve most of the obstacles or tasks that it comes about. A majority of telecommunication media use the capabilities of computer processing in one way or another that has given rise to innovations such as Voice over I.P( e.g., Skype) and Internet Television Streaming.

Computers have engendered numerous ways for people to express their personalities, share information and even make a living.

The Internet refers wide area network connection of computers to be able to share resources and data along with communication purposes. These computers work based on a protocol known as TCP/I.P to link a multitude of devices worldwide. Each particular computer that connects to the Internet is allocated a unique identification number known as I.P Address.

You can think of the I.P Address as a phone number that is assigned to each user who purchases a phone. More importantly the Internet has given rise to innovations such as social networking platforms that have converted the world into a global village.

Overall according to a recent Meta-analysis of the number of Internet users from 2000 to 2009, the number of Internet users worldwide increased from 395 million to 1.848 billion. In fact by late 2014, the number of Internet users surpasses the 3 billion mark meaning that close to 44 percent of the world’s population gained access to the Internet.

Any technologically savvy individual particularity one who own a computer will know that the Internet is one of the most paramount platforms to gain knowledge and learn about worldly events.

History of the Internet and Computer

The Internet was initially a research project by the US Army to build a primary communication network via computer networks. The initial system was referred to as ARPANET and was the platform upon which some essential military activities were carried out.

The history of the computer can be dated back to the beginning of the 20th century where many individuals attempted one way or another to create a machine that could offer supreme data processing capabilities. Charles Babbage is widely accredited as the father of computing, and his computers were the first among well known mechanical computers

Security of Computer and Internet

While computers might be beneficial and can be essential in carrying user`s data, they are susceptible to data hacks and illegal access. There are some individuals who use illegal strategies and back doors to gain unauthorized access to user’s data along with personal information. However, such effects can be mitigated by attaining firewall and anti-virus software, no sharing of personal information policy and overall attention to any suspicious activity on the computer.

The Internet on the wide is a vast and comprehensive entity that keeps on growing by the day. Although such growth might be beneficial for humanity, it entails myriad challenges to maintaining and run properly. In fact, certain NGOs such as the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers handle World Wide Web protocols along with allocating I.P Addresses.
